Rear Fog Light Installation

When I last owned the Wagon All-the-Rs I removed the ugly rear fog light that had been unceremoniously clagged to the bumper and replaced it with an almost-too-stealthy BikeVis-based setup instead. Time to find an unobtrusive middle ground that will please both me and the MOT tester…

This time round it dawned on me that, as the Wagon has a reversing light in each rear cluster, I could use the driver’s side holder as a rear fog light and get really close to an OEM-style setup. Sourcing a suitable red bulb took a little work as the rear clusters use wedge bulbs rather than the more usual bayonet style, but I eventually found a good-looking (the bulb is in a clear housing after all!) LED T15 from Classic Car LEDs which works perfectly.

As someone who likes to keep things as original as possible I felt a little uncomfortable snipping the wires on the reversing light loom, but ultimately this solution is a lot cleaner than an oversize fog light bolted to the bumper and could easily be reversed (no pun intended!) with a few solder sleeves.
