Ever since the Carry arrived the ventilation mode had been stuck, thankfully on the screen demist setting. Fixing it had therefore remained a relatively low priority, but a niggle like that will get to you eventually…

The resistance in the lever suggested an issue with the connecting cable rather than anything major, but getting to it would still involve a pretty thorough dismantling of the Carry’s dashboard.

Thankfully the Carry’s interior is as beautifully utilitarian as the rest of the vehicle and with a socket set for the removal of the steering wheel (I told you it was thorough) and a Philips head screwdriver for everything else I was able to unclip the old cable and replace it with a new one. After checking each mode and reassembling the dash the lever has, naturally, been sat on the screen demist setting ever since. If only I could ignore those little niggles 🙂
