3000 mile oil changes on a daily driver can get a bit draining (ba dum tsh) so I decided to try out a quick drain valve to see if it’ll make things any easier.

I bought a Fumoto oil drain valve from Quick Valve UK and it seemed that they had most vehicles covered. The JDMny wasn’t actually listed but shares its oil drain size and thread with the UK Jimnys so you might find they stock a suitable valve even if it doesn’t look like your vehicle is catered for on first glance. I also bought the safety clip as the valve points downwards and could, in theory, get caught during some particularly adventurous off-roading.

Installation was as simple as putting a standard sump plug back in and, even better, thanks to the JDMny’s height old oil cans will fit snuggly underneath the valve – I’m not sure I could make an oil change any quicker!
